Hi, it's me. I've had an idea that's been inside me for a while, and it's my first time saying this out loud. So, sorry for the ramble.
The three of us, at different points, have talked about this phrase, this concept: management therapy. And thinking about that in the current moment, current context, current economy, I'm thinking about how the three of us are in a similar life place, and that we're in the middle of change and transition.
I think I'm going out on a limb saying I don't know if we totally know what the next thing is yet. And I'm really feeling like a lot of people are in a similar place, that there's not really a space, or a refuge, or a place where you can just sit in the middle, in the not-knowing.
So I've been thinking about that, and I've thought about the two of you a lot, and creative projects I'd like to do with you. So I wanted to talk to you about this idea of creating a retreat, that I am thinking about as a portal.
Which is basically a space for people to come be in the middle, where it's murky and you don't know yet, and you want to be with people who will sit in that with you. This idea that you can be in transition between two things, in a passage, and we're making space for that to feel safe, and meaningful, and vulnerable, and truthful.
That we're not advertising or selling the ending, the outcome, some certainty, but that there's something really in the space in between. Where there's creativity, and there's quiet, and there's exploration. A moment for you to be in that without having to know, without needing to be certain. To give yourself space to think about the next thing and what comes after.
Not that there's some obvious shiny exit, but that you can work in where you are in this moment. This was a ramble, that's roughly my idea. I think it's a lot about being in the shitty middle. But how to mark that with rituals, how to conceive of this space in a different way, giving yourself time to rest, and helping reframe and just re-imagine yourself, and taking a different path.
I hope that was not too-too abstract. The idea in my head is really about not knowing who you are, not recognizing yourself, or not knowing what to do next, and then really trying to reframe that as: you're arriving at some important evolutionary portal of your future self. We don't know where you end up when you step through that portal, but it's important to utilize it when you're in it.
So, TLDR: I would love to think about planning some kind of portal retreat with both of you. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in.
